Grinding, squealing or a soft pedal? Brakes are your most important safety system, so we never cut corners. We replace pads and discs, flush tired brake fluid, and check calipers, hoses and the handbrake, with the car up on the ramp where the whole system can be seen. Collection and return is free. Every job uses quality parts, is proven on a test drive, and is guaranteed for 12 months or 10,000 miles, parts and labour.

Collection and return is included for workshop jobs, every clutch is road-tested afterwards, and the work is guaranteed for 12 months or 10,000 miles, parts and labour. We’ll always confirm it’s really the clutch before committing you to the cost.

Need an MOT, or want to dodge a nasty fail? Keith is a fully qualified MOT assessor with 40 years’ main-dealer experience. The test itself is done at a DVSA-approved centre: we arrange the slot, collect and return the car, explain any advisories in plain English, and put minor faults right on the ramp before it goes in. A pre-MOT check beforehand catches problems early.

Straight answers on cost
There is no call-out fee and no charge for looking at the car and quoting. Labour is £60 an hour, diagnostics start at £45, and the price you are quoted in writing is the price you pay. Collection and return costs nothing, so getting the car to the workshop adds nothing to the bill. Three things change the final figure: the parts your car needs, how long a fault takes to trace, and how long the job takes on the ramp.

Cheaper than a garage? On labour, about the same: ours is £60 an hour, and Checkatrade puts the garage average at £60. Parts cost what parts cost, wherever the car goes. What you save is the day off work: collection and return is free, and there is no call-out fee if the car won't start.
What about other mobile mechanics? Checkatrade's March 2026 guide puts the average mobile mechanic at around £45 an hour, but notes that most add a call-out fee of £45 to £85 on top. Airtasker's May 2026 data puts a typical UK mobile job at £90 to £120. We charge no call-out fee, so our £60 an hour is the whole labour cost. On a one-hour job that usually makes us cheaper; on a longer job it works out about the same, and you know the figure before we start.

Why the work happens on a ramp. A car in the air, with the right tools and a roof over it, gets fixed properly and in one go. A car on a wet drive gets a temporary fix and a second visit. So we bring the car to the ramp at Unit 6, Turner Street, and we bring it back to you afterwards. Collection and return costs you nothing.
Dealer expertise without dealer prices. You get a written quote before anything starts, and the price you are quoted is the price you pay. Between them Elliot and Keith have 55 years in the trade, most of it at main dealers, and it is our family name on every job.

Honest limits
We come out to a car that won't start, to a breakdown, and to a car you are about to buy. Everything else is done at the workshop, because a ramp, a press and a gearbox jack are what make a repair last. Getting the car in is our problem, not yours: collection and return is free, and a car that can't be driven gets recovered.
Everything else, from a service to a clutch, is done at Unit 6, Turner Street, Dudley. We collect the car and bring it back for nothing.
The MOT itself. By law it has to be carried out at a DVSA-approved test centre by an approved tester, so nobody can MOT a car anywhere else, whatever they tell you. We collect the car, arrange the slot, take it for the test and bring it back with the result explained.
How our MOT service worksWhat a callout can and can't do. At the kerb we can read the car, test the battery and charging, and tell you what has failed and what it will cost. What we will not do is a proper repair in the rain, on a jack, half under a car. It is not safe and it does not last. That is what recovery and the ramp are for.
The usual worry with mobile mechanics is that a van with no fixed address is hard to find again if a part fails. That doesn't apply here. We work from a registered workshop, the guarantee is backed by ETW Holdings Ltd (company no. 15689156), and every part we supply and fit carries a 12-month warranty.

Before you call
You will get either Elliot or Keith, depending on availability and the type of work. Elliot specialises in modern diagnostics and computer systems, while Keith excels at traditional mechanics and MOT preparation with 40 years main dealer experience. Both are equally qualified and committed to excellent service.
Elliot is City & Guilds Level 3 qualified with 15+ years experience specialising in modern diagnostics. Keith has 40+ years main dealer experience at Vauxhall and is a fully qualified MOT Assessor. Together they bring 55+ years combined experience covering both modern and traditional automotive repair.
Every call is answered, any time of day, and it's Elliot or Keith who come back to you - no call centres. If the car won't start we'll get to it as soon as the diary allows, and we'll tell you when that is rather than guess. Booked collections are arranged for a time that suits you.
Ben does, any time of day or night, even when Elliot is under a car. Ben is our phone assistant, a system we built ourselves rather than a call centre. He'll take your details, talk through what the car is doing, give you the diagnostic price if that's what you need, and can book you straight into the workshop diary. Everything you tell him goes to Elliot the moment the call ends, so when he calls you back he already knows the car and the problem. Elliot or Keith are the ones who quote the work and turn up to do it.
We charge no call-out fee and do not charge for looking at the car and providing a quote. Repair labour starts from £60 an hour. A full diagnostic work-up starts from £45, including a multi-module scan, live data, component testing and a written report. That is the same price whether the car comes in or we come out to it. You'll receive a quote before any repair work begins.
Not any more. We used to, and it was never as good as a ramp. We collect the car, do the work at our Dudley workshop, and bring it back. If it won't start we come out, diagnose it for £45 with no call-out fee, and recover it if it needs to come in. Recovery is £50 within 5 miles of the workshop, and quoted before we set off if you are further out.
No. Collection and return is free across our service areas, so you can leave the keys and carry on with your day. Drop the car at Unit 6, Turner Street, Dudley instead if that is easier. If the car won't start, we come to it.
The most any test centre can legally charge for a car MOT is £54.85, a cap set by the government. Ours costs £45 with collection and return. The test itself has to be done at a DVSA-approved centre, so we arrange the slot, take the car and bring it back with any advisories explained in plain English.
